This is Cobh (Gaelic), Ireland. It was also known as Cove and Queenstown;
the place where all immigrants leaving Ireland in the 1800's boarded their
ships. It's now a Heritage Center built into the original passenger
terminal. Jaunita's great, great Grandfather walked through here in 1852 on
his way to America with his wife and 2 year old son. It was Alexander and
Livona Hayes and their son Joseph Marion Hayes. They were escaping
starvation during the great famine, bound for new opportunities in North
Carolina.
