the place where all immigrants leaving Ireland in the 1800's boarded their ships. It's now a Heritage Center built into the original passenger terminal. Jaunita's great, great Grandfather walked through here in 1852 on his way to America with his wife and 2 year old son. It was Alexander and Livona Hayes and their son Joseph Marion Hayes. They were escaping starvation during the great famine, bound for new opportunities in North Carolina. |
