A Peat Bog. Peat or Duff is actually plant refuse from hundreds of years
of building up. Here is harvested by machine but in many places is still dug
by hand, dried and burned for heat and cooking. Has a nice sweet smell when
burning. Is still used all over Ireland. There is now a commercial form of
peat which is compressed into "bricks", is sold at most gas stations and
reminds me of "Presto Logs."
