The job ahead! Three pallets of 1 ft. by 2 ft. slates had arrived from the
200 year old slate quarry (Villar del Rey) in Spain at a cost of $3. per
slate (Approx. 560 slates per pallet) Each slate needed to be graded by
thickness, punched for two nail holes and carried up onto the roof abut six
at a time. Then carefully nailed down in STRAIGHT rows, working up in a
stair step manner from the bottom.
