Speaking of those wheat fields, here's one now. We are just north of the Missouring river
now, heading for the "Great Falls of the Missouri," the waterfalls that the town is named for.
In this photo you can see the method of farming used in this area. Strip farming is a technique
that makes the best use of the meager rainfall, and saves the land from wind erosion. One
strip is planted in wheat, while an adjacent strip lies fallow for the year. Then another
strip of wheat, etc. Next year, the strips are reversed.
